With just 8 simple steps, you can be on your way to a clean and organized shed. First, remove everything from the shed. Second, make three signs reading, “keep”, “donate” and “throw away”. Third, after the signs are made, start sorting the items between the three piles. Fourth, bag up the items in the “throw away” and “donate” piles and dispose of them appropriately. Fifth, start sorting through your “keep” pile and deciding if the amount will fit neatly back in your shed or if you have to move to step six and decide which items to further donate or throw away. The seventh step involves you moving the items back into the shed and once this is complete, you can move on to step eight. Step eight is to sit back and relax.
- Sort your stuff into three piles: keep, toss and give away.
- You can donate to Goodwill or to friends, but make sure friends actually want the item.
- If the ‘keep’ pile is too big, ask you yourself how likely you are to use the item in the next six months.
“Once you have everything out of the shed, then you can assess how much stuff you have, versus how much space there is in the shed.”
